Destination Wells

Somerset Tourism Expo

The story of Destination Wells

Since 2014, the hotel has teamed up with Visit Somerset to offer UK inbound tour operators a unique opportunity to discover the beautiful city of Wells and find out more about the other great attractions that Somerset has to offer.

Destination Wells gives tour operators an incredible insight into the county. Attendees enjoy private tours of some of the region’s most popular attractions as well as a complimentary stay at our hotel. Tour operators are often amazed at the variety of things to see and do and the beauty of the area.

Dozens of tour operators have attended each event and many of these tour operators now include Wells in their itineraries. . Our latest Destination Wells event was held in October 2016 and the feedback was, once again, incredibly positive.

Destination Wells 2016 was another action-packed weekend. It all began with complimentary first class travel from London Paddington to Castle Cary station. Taxis then brought our tour operator guests to the hotel.

Guests enjoyed a Gala Dinner on Friday evening and speeches from John Turner, CEO of Visit Somerset and James Heappey MP. Saturday included a guided walking tour of Wells (including the Cathedral) and a visit to the award-winning Wells Farmers’ market. An excursion of the county followed. This took in a tour of Glastonbury Abbey, Dunster Castle, Cheddar Gorge and the Roman Baths.

On Sunday, tour operators enjoyed a guided tour of the Bishop’s Palace.

If you are interested in attending a future event, please call 01749 836300.
